THE COMMITTEE ON THE RIGHTS OF THE CHILD

Espaņol

How is the Committee related to the UN system?

The Committee is part of the Group of Treaty Monitoring Bodies. This Group of Committees is responsible for monitoring the enforcement of the major international treaties on Human Rights, as adopted by the United Nations General Assembly.

Each Committee is established as per the terms of each treaty, they are independent of the UN ranking system, and have their own internal Regulations.

As these Committees monitor treaties dealing with Human Rights, they are related to the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights.

The following diagram shows the major Bodies in the UN System and their relationship to the Committee.
