The Inter-American Children's Institute (IIN), in its capacity as a specialized organization of the Organization of American States (OAS), is honoured to make available to the Member States, competent Central Authorities, experts, and other stakeholders, this innovative Web site containing information on the international abduction of children by one of their parents.

This tool provides for access to specialized information designed for improving both the preventive and resolving treatment of cases related to international child abduction and further return. The IIN intends to ensure that competent Central Authorities count on the necessary bibliography, databases, training, and reference and contact persons providing the required support and assistance to deal with individual cases, but also for the purpose of strengthening communication among States within the Inter-American System.

Thus, the IIN complies with Resolution AG/Res.2028/XXXIV/O/04 adopted by the General Assembly of the Organization of American States on the Inter-American Program of Cooperation for the Prevention and Remedy of Cases of International Abduction of Children by one of their Parents. We hope this Site will be useful to understand the scope and trends of this practice, which is so damaging for the exercise of children's basic rights.
