WORKING
GROUPS OF THE NINETEENTH PAN AMERICAN CHILD CONGRESS AND THEIR
ASSIGNED SUB-THEMES
THE DIRECTING COUNCIL,
HAVING SEEN:
That the Nineteenth Pan American Child Congress will be held on
27-29 October, 2004 in Mexico City, with the Inter-American
Children’s Institute acting as its Executive Secretariat;
That this Pan American Congress will adopt as its main theme “The
Family: Basis for the Integral Development of Children and
Adolescents”;
CONSIDERING:
That Resolution AG/RES. 2031 (XXXIV - O/04) convened all the OAS
member states, institutions and key people who advocate and promote
the rights of children and the family to attend the Nineteenth Pan
American Child Congress;
That Article 19 in the Rules of Procedure of the Nineteenth Pan
American Child Congress establishes that the Directing Council
should define the Working Groups and assign their respective
sub-themes.
RESOLVES:
To establish three Working Groups for the discussion of the
following sub-themes:
Group 1: Sub-theme 1: “The Family as the Institution with
Primary Responsibility for the Protection, Upbringing, and Integral
Development of Children and Adolescents.” Sub-theme 4: “The
Doctrine of Integral Protection and Current Family Law.”
Group 2: Sub-theme 2: “Evolution of the Child’s Relationship
with the Family.” Sub-theme 3: “Children’s Rights and their
Relation to the Different Types of Families.”
Group 3: Sub-theme 5: “Family Violence and its Impact on
Child Development.” Sub-theme 6: “Promoting a Culture of Respect
for Children’s Rights: The Roles of the Family, the State, Civil
Society and the Media.”
