ELECTION OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE NINETEENTH PAN AMERICAN CHILD CONGRESS
THE DIRECTING COUNCIL,
HAVING SEEN:
That the Nineteenth Pan American Child Congress will be held on 27-29 October,
2004 in Mexico City, with the Inter-American Children’s Institute acting as its
Executive Secretariat;
That this Pan American Congress will adopt as its main theme “The Family: Basis
for the Integral Development of Children and Adolescents”;
CONSIDERING:
That Resolution AG/RES. 2031 (XXXIV - O/04) convened all the OAS member states,
institutions and key people who advocate and promote the rights of children and
the family to attend the Nineteenth Pan American Child Congress;
That the Permanent Council must inform the Thirty-fifth Regular Session of the
General Assembly on the implementation of Resolution AG/RES. 2031 (XXXIV -
O/04) and on the outcome of the Nineteenth Pan American Child Congress.
RESOLVES:
1. To congratulate the Inter-American Children’s Institute and the governments
of participating member states –particularly the Government of the Republic of
Mexico–for the preparation of the Nineteenth Pan American Child Congress;
2. To entrust the Director General to submit, in his capacity as Secretary of
the Pan American Congress, a report on the outcome of the Congress to the 80th
Regular Session of the Directing Council of the Inter-American Children’s
Institute;
3. To appoint, by unanimity of present members, the Delegate of the Republic of
Mexico to the Directing Council, Ms. Ana Teresa Aranda Orozco, as President of
the Pan American Congress.
