The "Subregional Workshop on Public Policies for the Educational and Social Inclusion of Children with Disabilities (Central America, Panama and Dominican Republic)" was held in Tegucigalpa, Honduras and it was organized by the Inter-American Children's Institute (IIN), specialized organization of the OAS, and the National Institute of Women’s Affairs (INAM). This event took place at the Hotel "Plaza del Libertador" Hotel, in Tegucigalpa on October 9 - 10, 2003. Experts from governmental and non-governmental agencies of Honduras, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Panama and the Dominican Republic attendend the meeting. Participants in the Subregional Workshop analysed and discussed the progress of participanting countries in the field of educational and social inclusion of children with disabilities. Addtiionally, participants presented their successful experiences for their promotion in the subregion and established a set of recommendations for a subregional strategy in this area.
